Corporate Summary:
The Company became one of the world's largest rice milling companies and a dominant force in U.S. rice milling and marketing. Riviana has played a leading role in all facets of the U.S. rice industry, including grades and standards, milling technology, marketing promotion, research and more.

In 1926, the Company was the first to introduce consumer packaging, and in 1931, it began to sell rice in kraft and cellophane bags. Its early brand names – Mahatma® and WaterMaid® – are still part of the Riviana family of brands today.

Its present identity was established in 1965 when Riviana Foods Inc. was created through the merger of River Brand Rice Mills, Inc. and Louisiana State Rice Milling Company. River Brand Rice Mills, a Texas-based company, had been active in the northeastern U.S. since 1911, marketing rice under the brand names Carolina® and River®.
